Family balance is a lot of fun. I worked with this Executive about two years ago, and she was the CEO of a company with about 200 employees. The funny thing was that at home there was a lot of chaos going on – house was always messy, kids always yelling and I’m sure a lot of you guys can relate to that. What we found is that at work she had a death grip on her employees, and that’s because the only place that she felt like that she had control was at the office. When we look at this balance of work and home, etc… we can really create balance in both spaces. When we do that, everything kind of creates an equilibrium across the areas that we perform in our lives.
Creating balance within families is fun, but it really comes down to accountability - holding children accountable for chores, duties, responsibilities, as well as holding our partners and spouses accountable to lift us up, motivate and encourage us. It’s really about not checking out. it’s about staying conscious, cognizant and aware of the performance at an individual level and how the family is performing together. That means things like saving money, getting out of debt, giving back to the community, or creating arts and crafts projects. I could go on and on, but I get so excited about this topic because that’s where we can really make a difference in the way we run our businesses, our communities and the way that we run our individual lives.
I’m James Nicholas Kinney and I’m obsessed with performance. In our nation, in our companies and in our communities.
